Mark Newmiller

Mark Newmiller, Director of the Disability Resource Office, joined the DRO team in January 2003. A native of central New York, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from LeMoyne College, and a Master of Science degree in Special Education from the College of St. Rose. Mark has more than 20 years of professional experience working with students with disabilities. Throughout his career he has been responsible for teaching, evaluating, and determining the eligibility for services of students in a range of disability areas.

Prior to working in education, Mark worked in sales and spent a year working for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. Before becoming Director in 2012, Mark served nine years as an Access Consultant for students with LD and ADHD.

Megan Foxworth

Megan Foxworth, Assistant Director, joined the DRO in August 2021. Megan is from Red Springs, NC. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology and Master of Science degree in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Megan is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).

Megan has several years of experience in a variety of professional settings in education. She has worked with students to increase access to higher education and post-secondary options as a Carolina College Advisor Corps member as well as served as an Access Coordinator in the UNC Chapel Hill and UNC Greensboro Accessibility Resources offices.

Maggie Faulkner

Maggie Faulkner, Assistant Director, has been working in the DRO since may 2016.  Maggie was born in Bethlehem, Pa.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from West Virginia University.

Maggie has over 25 years of professional experience in various settings and capacities and includes the following:  Residential programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Elon Homes for Children, Guilford County Mental Health. Trend Mental Health, the NC Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and most recently the Disability Services Office at Blue Ridge Community College for over eight years.

Leslie Watts

Leslie Watts, Assistant Director, joined the DRO in 2017. Leslie was born in Fayetteville, NC and received both her Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching with a concentration in Special Education from North Carolina State University.

Most recently, Leslie worked for Wake County Public Schools and has 8 years of experience working with students with disabilities. She has developed customized instruction, implemented behavior modification systems and measured students with intervention plans. Leslie and her family live in Raleigh and enjoy staying active in their community and church.

Desiree Klemm-Kafel

Desiree Klemm-Kafel, Assistant Director, started with NCSU DSO in December 2018. Desiree was born and raised in Brick, New Jersey. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of South Florida and a Master of Human Relations and Master of Arts with an Emphasis in International Relations from the University of Oklahoma.

Desiree has over 7 years of experience in a number of professional settings to include legal, humanitarian and services for students with disabilities. She has worked with military families in the service to armed forces division of the American Red Cross as well as served as the coordinator of Student Accessibility Resources at Gulf Coast State College. Most recently, Desiree worked for North Carolina Central University as the Assistant Director of Student Accessibility Services. In her free time, you can find Desiree in the library or with her husband and fur family roaming about the city.

Rebecca Sitton

Rebecca Sitton, Assistant Director, joined the DRO team in February 2010. A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from North Carolina State University. Rebecca is a certified Assistive Technology Practitioner (ATP) and Rehabilitation Engineering Technologist (RET). She has 19 years of experience working with accessible technology and persons with disabilities. Rebecca’s prior employment includes Rehabilitation Engineering and Program Specialist positions within the North Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Program and Assistive Technology Consultant and Specialist positions with the North Carolina Assistive Technology Program. Rebecca currently serves as the Assistive Technology Coordinator in the Disability Resources Office.

Thomas Martin

Thomas Martin is a Raleigh native and has lived in the Triangle area his entire life. Upon graduation from Raleigh’s Sanderson High School in 1990, Thomas entered NC State University. He graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English: Writing and Editing. After working for several companies in the Research Triangle area, Mr. Martin returned to NC State University in 2000 to work as DRO’s Program Assistant. After six and a half years at DRO, he embarked upon a short stint working to coordinate interpreting services for a private agency in Wake Forest. Finally, in June 2008, Thomas again returned to NC State as the Assistant Director and Coordinator of Testing Accommodations in the Disability Resources Office.

Ryan Williford

Ryan Williford is a Raleigh native and has enjoyed living in the Triangle her whole life. After graduating from Enloe High school she attended East Carolina University with a focus in Psychology. She started at NC State in 2019 and later joined the DRO in 2020 as Assistant Coordinator of Proctoring.

Wyona Goodwin

Wyona Goodwin, the Business Services Coordinator, is a native of Bronx, New York.  Since March 2000, Wyona has worked at NC State and joined DRO in July 2007. She holds an A.A.S. degree in Office Administration from Wake Technical Community College and has completed various professional development and continuing education courses. Wyona joined the National Coalition Building Institute College Campus Coalition, NCBI in 2012 and holds an active role as a Trainer.  Wyona brings over 20 years of experience in the administrative field having worked in various areas including private sector, local and state government.

Wyona’s responsibilities include HR Rep., Budget Management, Salary Administrator, Office Manager and Supervises the front office staff.

Consuelo Jones, Program Assistant is a native of Emporia, Virginia. She has been employed in the DRO office since February 2014. She holds an A.A.S. in Business Administration from Southside Virginia Community College and has completed additional professional development programs. Consuelo’s prior employment includes HR Generalist for the Virginia Department of Corrections and Guest Service Representative for Hilton Hotels.

She currently resides in North Raleigh and is the mother of two children.
